ESSCaSS 2024
The Autonomous Driving Lab recently attended the 21st Estonian Summer School on Computer and Systems Science (ESSCaSS), held from August 11th to 15th in the picturesque Roosta Holiday Village. Over the course of five days, participants delved into topics related to machine learning and robotics, enjoyed outdoor sports activities, and, of course, relaxed in the sauna.
ADL actively contributed to the summer school program with several demonstrations and presentations. We conducted a simulation demo during the poster session and provided car demonstrations for interested attendees. On Thursday, Tambet Matiisen delivered a presentation titled "Revisiting the End-to-End vs. Modular Dilemma in Autonomous Driving." Additionally, we showcased a demonstration of visual navigation using the Jackal robot. Moreover, one of the lecturers, Dhruv Shah, was specially invited by us to join the event. He presented two-part lecture "Large-Scale Machine Learning for Robotics". Overall, ESSCASS 2024 was a great success, and we are eagerly looking forward to next year's adventures!
