Requirements engineering

The work on requirements engineering by Autonomous Driving Lab is concerned with emotional requirements. We are dealing with emotional requirements for operators of autonomous vehicles as well as with passengers of such vehicles in situations such as self-driving taxis. For operators, we offer a comprehensive approach that evaluates an individual’s readiness to safely act based on her emotional state and a taxonomy of unsafe acts.

For passengers, we offer co-design approaches, such as the do/be/feel method, for eliciting and representing requirements for autonomous driving systems. The requirements are represented as a hierarchy of functional goals to be achieved, to which are attached the roles achieving them, relevant quality goals for the system and, importantly, emotional goals for the passengers.
